Basic Rules of Volleyball
There are only 6 people allowed on your side of the court at once.
The server has to stay behind the endline when serving.
Your team must start in the order they are assigned to until the server hits the ball.
When you are backrow, you cannot jump when you are infront of the 10 foot line.
Nobody can touch the net when they are playing the ball.
If a player touches the ball before it goes out, it is the other teams point.
The first one to 25 wins, but you must win by at least 2 points.
There are 2 day and 1 day tournaments.
There are different age groups.
The highest age group for club is 18u.
You only go to tournaments with your own age group.
Volleyball tournaments have different playing times.
The first playing time is pool play.
The second playing time is tournament play.
Depending on how you do in pool play is how you are placed for the tournament.
There are also different divisions inside an age group.
There is Club, Premier, and then Open. (in that order)
Open is the best of the best teams and club is the not as good teams.
During every tournament, you need to ref.
When you you ref, you have to watch the lines and keep track of scores.
When you aren't reffing or playing, you are sitting.
When you sit, you get to eat!
To play club, you have to try-out for a team.
To get information on try-out times and places, you look the club up and search for try-out info.
There are so many different clubs.
Some clubs are allstar teams that take the best players from around the area and have them try-out.
Other clubs are teams from that county/highschool.
Some clubs that are allstar are Utah Ice, .Mt. O, Rise (they are from Idaho), Club V, High Country, Union, (etc.).
All of the girls on those teams won't go to the same high school, which isn't amazing, but it's ok.
Teams that are from a certain high school are, Club Fusion, Bear River, (etc.).
There aren't that many teams from one high shcool.
There are many different positions in volleyball.
The most important player is the setter.
The setter is incharge of the whole court.
She runs all around the court and moves the most.
Another player is the lebaro.
The libaro is a backrow only player who always wears a different colored jersey as the rest of the players so people can pick them out.
The libaro goes in for the middles or outsides.
The libaro doesn't have to sub in or out, they just "go"
Another player is the outside hitter.
The outside helps the middle and is a very good hitter.
They are placed on the opposite side of the setter.
Another player is the middle hitter.
The middle is normally the tallest player on the whole team.
The help the setter block and the outside.
Libaros normally go backrow for them.
There is also a right side hitter.
Whenever the setter is backrow, their can be a right side hitter who is normally left handed.
There are also defensive specialists who sub in for any of the hitters.
They are normally short and really good at passing.
Famous Volleyball Players
There are many famous volleyball players from college to the olympics/country teams
There are boys and girls.
Logan Tom played indoor and outdoor volleyball. She is a four-time Olympian at the outside hitter.
Dani Lins is the setter for Brazil. She won the gold medal at the World Grand Prix in 2009.
Giba is an outside hitter for Brazil. For much of the 2000's he was widely regarded as one of the best volleyball players in the world.
Desitnee Hooker was a rightside hitter for the United States. She stared in track & field and volleyball in college at the University of Texas.
